Spring planting techniques and variety selection methods for sweet corn

Edible Gardening 0 views
Everyone enjoys eating fresh sweet corn. It has a large market capacity, high yield, and good returns. From sowing to harvesting fresh cobs takes about 90 days, so it does not affect the planting of hybrid rice. It is a good grain-and-cash cropping model that can produce a thousand jin of grain and a thousand yuan per mu. Summarizing recent cultivation practices, to grow spring sweet corn well, the following points should be done well: 1....
1. Varieties such as Dongtian 206 can be trial-planted. These varieties have high yield, a medium growth period, a fresh grain sugar content of more than 16%, and good taste for fresh eating.
2. Sow at the right time and cultivate strong seedlings. Generally, sowing begins around March 15-20, and nylon film-supported covering must be used for seedling raising. Choose a sandy loam plot with loose soil, fairly good fertility, and sufficient sunlight as the seedbed. After fine land preparation, apply a pass of dilute human manure fertilizer, arrange the corn seeds at a seed spacing of 3-5 cm, and press lightly. Then cover the seeds with fine soil to a thickness of about one cm. Then build a frame and cover with film to keep warm. The seedling age is about 20 days, with 2 leaves and one heart to 3 leaves and one heart. Prevent transplanting beyond the proper seedling age, which would reduce yield.
3. Improve land preparation and transplanting quality to ensure complete and uniform seedlings. Before plowing, broadcast 25-30 kg of ammonium bicarbonate and 25 kg of superphosphate per mu as base fertilizer. After plowing, prepare the land and make beds. The bed width is 1.2 m, with two rows planted. For fields with heavier clay soil, all fertilizer can be applied at one time, that is, open a furrow in the center of the bed and apply 75 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, 25 kg of superphosphate, and 15 kg of potassium chloride per mu. After covering with soil, apply an appropriate amount of 80% acetochlor per mu or spray evenly on the bed surface after mixing with water to control weeds.
Then cover with plastic film for later use. However, for leaky fields with a heavier sandy nature, fertilizer should not be applied all at once. Fertilization should follow the principle of "appropriate application of seedling fertilizer and heavy application of ear fertilizer." After planting the corn seedlings, water with 50% phoxim or 40% chlorpyrifos at 1000 times dilution to control underground pests. The transplanting density is 3300-3500 plants per mu, with a plant spacing of about 33 cm. After transplanting and survival (about 7-10 days after planting), seedling fertilizer should be applied in time, generally using dilute manure water or 10 kg of ammonium sulfate per mu.
4. Strengthen management. Sweet corn varieties have a multi-ear phenomenon, which should be removed in time, leaving one strong ear per plant. During the funnel stage, use BT emulsion (Bacillus thuringiensis) at 600 times, or 18% bisultap at 500 times, or 90% trichlorfon crystal at 1000 times, and pour into the whorl to control corn borers. Highly toxic and high-residue pesticides are strictly prohibited. Stop using any pesticides 15 days before harvest.
5. Plant in isolation from common corn. Sweet corn should be planted in isolation from common corn, with a required spacing of more than 300 m, to prevent cross-pollination from affecting corn quality. Fresh-eating sweet corn can be sown in batches to supply the market continuously and avoid a large amount ripening at one time, which would cause losses due to overmaturity.
