Water surface water spinach cultivation techniques:
1. Making seedlings: After the planted water spinach mother stems form nodes, when the branches growing from the nodes reach 20 cm in length, cut off the seedlings with fibrous roots as planting material.
2. Cultivation method: Prepare braided straw rope, wooden stakes and floats (spherical plastic foam floats used for the upper rope of fishing nets will do). When planting, weave and insert the seedlings onto the straw rope at 15-20 cm intervals to secure them. In the cultivation area of the crab pond, drive wooden stakes into the pond bottom; the upper ends of the stakes must protrude above the water surface. According to buoyancy, fix the floats onto the straw rope at equal intervals. Do not pull the straw rope too tight; form loops at both ends of the rope and slip them over the wooden stakes, so the seedlings on the straw rope can float up and down with the rise and fall of the water surface. Generally, in crab ponds, it is appropriate for the water spinach plants to cover no more than 30% of the water surface area after growing large; if this area is exceeded, harvest promptly. To speed up growth, regularly spray 0.5% urea on the leaf surfaces; spraying should be done in the morning or evening. For leaf rollers, spray a 90% trichlorfon crystal aqueous solution at 1 part per thousand on the leaf surfaces; for white rust, spray a 65% zineb aqueous solution at 2 parts per thousand on the leaf surfaces. When spraying, be careful to avoid directly spraying the solution into the water to prevent harm to the crabs. The main pests and diseases of water spinach are leaf rollers and white rust.
