How to top-dress eggplant in summer? Here is some guidance

In summer, eggplant can be top-dressed like this (for reference):
Furrow application. Vegetable growers have become accustomed to top-dressing chemical fertilizer with irrigation water, but this method is not suitable in the high-temperature summer season. Because the temperature is relatively high, when chemical fertilizer is applied with irrigation water, a large amount of ammonia volatilizes and reduces the effect. Ammonium bicarbonate in particular is more likely to cause ammonia toxicity in eggplant. Applying it in furrows or burying it in holes gives the best results. After top-dressing, the thickness of the soil cover should be no less than 5 cm to reduce volatilization of the effective components of the chemical fertilizer.
Pay attention to the amount. Eggplant has the greatest demand for nitrogen fertilizer, but in the high-temperature season it must be given "small meals more often." Each application of urea should generally be controlled within 30 kg per mu. This is because in the high-temperature season, urea transforms relatively quickly after being applied to the soil, and after the plants have their needs met, the excess portion will be lost. Especially in sandy soil, the proportion lost will be greater. For ammonium bicarbonate, an application rate of no more than 40 kg per mu each time is more suitable. If the application rate is too large, in addition to causing nutrient loss, it will also cause ammonia damage to eggplant leaves and fruit.
Reasonable combination. Although eggplant has the greatest demand for nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are also indispensable, and nitrogen fertilizer alone should not be applied every time during top-dressing. During the full fruiting period, it is best to apply a three-element compound fertilizer twice, with no less than 40 kg per mu each time.
