How should Welsh onions be fertilized? Please explain.  Thank you very much.

For a long time, many vegetable growers have been accustomed to digging trenches to apply a one-time topdressing to Welsh onions, which is not scientific. This is because doing so not only easily cuts the roots of the Welsh onions, but also, because the fertilizer is applied too concentratedly, burns the young tender roots of the Welsh onions, leading to dry tips and withered leaves, affecting the quality of the Welsh onions and reducing yield.
Through production practice over the past two years, I have summarized that the scientific fertilization method should be: following the principle of "eating small meals more often," applying topdressing 3 to 4 times from transplanting to harvest, to prevent fertilizer deficiency in the late growth stage of the Welsh onions. Each topdressing should be applied by evenly broadcasting the fertilizer on the soil surface around the roots of the Welsh onions, then covering the fertilizer with soil, reducing fertilizer volatilization losses, promoting the softening and elongation of the white stalks, and enhancing wind resistance. Within two days after earthing up, water once so that the fertilizer dissolves in the soil and decomposes quickly, promoting healthy growth and development of the Welsh onions.
