How to manage water and fertilizer for Welsh onions well? Please explain

Welsh onion is a vegetable with a relatively high fertilizer demand, and generally requires 3 to 4 topdressings from transplanting to harvest. For a long time, some onion farmers have been accustomed to furrow topdressing, which not only easily cuts the fibrous roots of Welsh onions, but also often burns the tender roots of Welsh onions because the fertilizer is applied too concentratively, leading to dry tips and withered leaves.
According to the growth habit of Welsh onion fibrous roots, which tend toward fertilizer, water and warmth, the correct topdressing method should be divided into three steps: scattering beside the roots, pressing by hilling, and dissolving by watering.
"Scattering beside the roots" means evenly scattering fertilizer on the soil surface around the roots of Welsh onions between the ridges while weeding and loosening the soil. "Pressing by hilling" means hilling soil to cover the fertilizer after scattering, so as to reduce fertilizer volatilization loss, promote the softening and elongation of the white stalk, and enhance wind resistance. "Dissolving by watering" means watering within two days after hilling, so that the fertilizer dissolves in the soil and decomposes rapidly, supporting the healthy growth and development of Welsh onions.
