How to prevent Welsh onion rust disease during continuous rainy weather? Please advise.
In summer and autumn, with high temperatures and frequent rain, if continuous rainy weather occurs, Welsh onions are prone to rust disease, and farmers should promptly take effective measures to strengthen prevention and control.
Timely pesticide application for prevention and control: In summer and autumn, especially after 2-3 days of continuous rainy weather, promptly inspect Welsh onions for the occurrence of rust disease. If brownish-green spots are found on the leaves, spray immediately. Generally, use 25% triadimefon emulsifiable concentrate at 3000 times dilution, plus one quarter portion of laundry detergent, and spray with a fine mist using a sprayer. After the first application, apply again at an interval of 7-10 days to improve the disease prevention effect.
Improve the disease resistance of Welsh onions: In addition to carrying out field management such as drought resistance and drainage, during the susceptible period in summer and autumn, apply 15-20 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu of land to promote the growth of Welsh onions and resist disease.
Apply sufficient base fertilizer before transplanting: For each mu of Welsh onion field, apply 3000 kg of decomposed pig manure and 25 kg of 45% nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer, and after plowing thoroughly and raking evenly, transplant the young Welsh onions.
Reasonable crop rotation: In the same plot, do not plant Welsh onions continuously; generally, rotate once a year. If rotation conditions are lacking, after rust disease occurs, Welsh onions should not be planted again the following year.
