How to control pests and diseases in rice in summer? Need guidance

According to trend analysis, in summer and autumn, rice pests and diseases focus on the "three insects and three diseases" (namely rice leaf roller, rice planthopper, striped stem borer, rice blast, rice false smut, and sheath blight).

In early September, the sixth (4th) generation rice planthopper, the sixth (4th) generation rice leaf roller, the third generation striped stem borer, rice blast in double-cropping late rice, rice false smut, and sheath blight should be investigated and treated, along with bacterial leaf blight and other pests and diseases.

3. Around mid-September, treat rice planthopper as the main target, investigate and treat other pests and diseases, and also treat panicle-stage diseases of double-cropping late rice such as grain discoloration and neck blast. Pay close attention to the control of bacterial basal rot and small grain sclerotium disease in single-cropping late rice.

1. Strengthen field management

Adopt water management measures such as shallow water for tillering, timely and moderate field drying, alternating wet and dry conditions at the panicle stage, and not cutting off water too early; do not apply excessive nitrogen fertilizer, increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, improve rice stress resistance, and worsen the living environment for pests and diseases.

2. Main pest and disease control thresholds

Rice planthopper: at the tillering stage, 1000 young nymphs per 100 hills (brown planthopper accounting for more than 60%) to 1500 (white-backed planthopper accounting for more than 60%); from the booting stage to the full heading stage, 1500 young nymphs per 100 hills (brown planthopper accounting for more than 60%) to 2000 (white-backed planthopper accounting for more than 60%); after the full heading stage, 2000 young nymphs per 100 hills; rice leaf roller: 100 young larvae per 100 hills (tillering stage), 50 (booting stage); striped stem borer: 100 egg masses per mu; rice blast: leaf blast, apply targeted treatment as soon as central diseased plants are found, or when the diseased leaf rate reaches 3 to 5%, apply pesticide 1 to 2 times; panicle blast, for susceptible varieties, spray pesticide 3 to 5 days before panicle emergence for prevention, and treat again one week later. Rice false smut: apply pesticide for the first time 8 to 10 days before panicle emergence, and treat again at the panicle emergence stage; sheath blight: 20% diseased hills.
