In the late growth stage of sweet potatoes, rational fertilization can prevent premature aging of the plants, maintain the assimilation capacity of the leaves, promote the transport of nutrients to the storage roots, and thereby increase yield.

Foliar spraying: after sweet potatoes enter the late growth stage, the absorption capacity of the root system weakens, and foliar spraying can be carried out according to category. For hilly slopes, plain sandy land, or fields showing a trend of premature aging with weak growth, a 0.5% urea solution can be sprayed; for fields with excessively vigorous growth and relatively high fertility levels, a 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution or a 2%-3% superphosphate extract can be sprayed; for general fields, a mixed solution of 0.4%-0.5% urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed, once every 7-10 days for a total of 2-3 sprays, with 70-100 kg of fertilizer solution per mu each time, and spraying is best done on sunny evenings.

Fertilizer-water furrow irrigation: use a 3%-5% potassium sulfate solution or a 10%-20% plant ash extract and apply it along the furrows, using 100-150 kg of fertilizer solution per mu. For fields showing a trend of premature aging, a 2% compound fertilizer (NPK) solution can be applied as a top dressing.
