Mung beans are highly adaptable, tolerant of poor soil, drought, shade and late sowing. For autumn mung bean production, the following techniques should be well implemented:

1. Select good varieties. For autumn mung beans, choose varieties with a short growth period, high yield and good quality, with maturity controlled within 90 days.

2. Sow early at the right time. Autumn mung beans can be sown until around the Beginning of Autumn, but the earlier the sowing, the longer the flowering and pod-setting period, and the higher the yield. After the water recedes and the field is cleared, prepare the land in time and sow as early as possible.

3. Reasonable close planting. Mung beans are shade-tolerant and can be intercropped with autumn corn (2349, 8.00, 0.34%). When planted alone, drilling or dibbling is suitable. Plant spacing 15-17 cm x 40-50 cm, sowing rate 1.5-2 kg per mu, density 8000-10000 plants. Thin and set seedlings early after emergence.

4. Increase fertilizer application. Although mung beans are leguminous crops, striving for high autumn mung bean yields still requires increased fertilizer application, especially topdressing from emergence to flowering to promote nodule formation. Generally apply 20 kg phosphate fertilizer and 12.5 kg potassium fertilizer per mu as base fertilizer, and 2.5 kg urea as seed fertilizer. During the seedling stage and early flowering stage, promote or control growth according to the seedlings; during the flowering and podding stage, do a good job of foliar spraying.

5. Pay attention to weed infestation. Mung bean fields usually have relatively serious weed problems, so field weeds must be removed in time in combination with cultivating and weeding.

6. Prevent and control diseases and pests well. Leaf spot disease, pod borers and aphids cause relatively great damage to mung beans. For leaf spot disease, spray with 50% thiophanate-methyl 600-800 times solution. For pod borers, use 25% deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate, spraying 20-25 ml mixed with 50 kg water during the flowering and podding stage. Or use 1.8% abamectin 3000-4000 times solution or 40% Xinnongbao 900-1000 times. For aphids, use 40% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate 1500 times solution for control, or 10% Yibianjing 1500-2000 times solution.

7. Harvest at the right time. Mung bean pods easily split open and drop seeds, so harvest in batches as they mature to reduce losses.
