What are the fertilizer requirements of potatoes? Please explain.

Throughout the entire growth period of potatoes, the types and amounts of nutrients required vary depending on the growth stage. Nutrient uptake is very low during the seedling stage, increases rapidly during the branching stage, reaches its peak in the early tuber-setting stage, and then drops sharply. For the three major elements nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P2O5), and potassium (K2O) absorbed during each growth period, calculated as a percentage of total nutrient uptake, from germination to emergence they are 6.0%, 8.0%, and 9.0% respectively; during the branching stage they are 38.0%, 34.0%, and 36.0%; during the tuber-setting stage they are 56.0%, 58.0%, and 55.0%. Among the three elements, potatoes absorb the most potassium, followed by nitrogen, and the least phosphorus. According to experiments, for every 1000 kg of tubers produced, 5-6 kg of nitrogen, 1-3 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 12-13 kg of potassium oxide are required.
