How should mung beans be saved for seed? Please advise. Mung beans are a common minor grain crop with relatively large market demand, but the varieties are mixed and quality is poor. Doing a good job of selecting and saving mung bean seed can both increase yield and ensure the quality of mung bean production, with very high economic benefits, and is worth promoting in all regions. When saving seed, choose excellent varieties of mung beans for seed...

Mung bean cultivation can refer to the following techniques:
     1. Sowing (1) Seed treatment. After the seeds are selected, mix them with a coating agent or drought-resistant agent and rhizobia. (2) Sowing rate. The seeding rate per mu is 1-1.5 kg. (3) Planting method. Use equal-row spacing sowing, with a row spacing of 35-45 cm. It can also be intercropped or relay intercropped with other crops such as cucurbits, or multiple-cropped with vegetables. (4) Sowing time. Sowing in mid-to-late June is more suitable. (5) Sowing method. For small-area planting, hole sowing or broadcast sowing can be used; for large areas, mechanical sowing is suitable, with a sowing depth of 5 cm.

2. Fertilization (1) Apply base fertilizer. In combination with land preparation, apply 1000-1500 kg of organic fertilizer per mu. (2) Apply seed fertilizer. Apply 4-5 kg of diammonium phosphate, 2-3 kg of urea, and 3-4 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. (3) Foliar fertilization. At the early flowering stage, use 40-60 g of monopotassium phosphate, 25-35 g of ammonium molybdate, and 15-25 g of borax per mu, each mixed with 15-20 kg of water, and spray separately on the leaves.

3. Field management (1) Thinning and final thinning. Thin seedlings when the plants have 2 leaves, and finalize the stand when they have 3 leaves. (2) Density. In dryland, the row spacing is 35-40 cm and the plant spacing is 8-10 cm, leaving 16,000-20,000 plants per mu. If hole sowing is used, the hole spacing is 20-25 cm, leaving 20,000-30,000 plants per mu. In irrigated land with broadcast sowing, the plant spacing is 10-15 cm; with hole sowing, the plant spacing is 20-25 cm, leaving 14,000-16,000 plants per mu. (3) Cultivation and weeding. After thinning and final thinning, shallow hoe once, without hilling soil, to promote seedling hardening and remove weeds. (4) Pinching. Pinch the growing tips when the plants grow excessively in the later growth stage of mung beans. (5) Pest and disease control. Continuous cropping easily leads to root rot and nematode disease, and coating the seeds can effectively prevent them. To control aphids and red spiders, spray with an 800-1000 times dilution of omethoate.

4. Harvest. Pick when 80% of the pods turn brown. After picking twice, harvest all at once depending on the weather and growth conditions.
