When is the best time to plant potatoes? An introduction

How do you determine the planting period for potatoes? Planting at the right time has an important effect on crop growth and development and on yield formation, so the planting period must be chosen correctly. To ensure a suitable planting period, the following aspects should be considered:
(1) The tuber formation stage should be arranged in a season suitable for tuber bulking, that is, an average temperature of no more than 23 degrees, no more than 14 hours of sunshine per day, and a moderate amount of rain.
(2) Full use should be made of local conditions favourable for emergence and of avoiding unfavourable conditions in order to determine the suitable planting period.
(3) The planting period should be determined according to the variety and the condition of the seed potatoes.
(4) Generally speaking, about 20-30 days before the last frost, when the temperature steadily passes through 5-7 degrees, is the local suitable range for the potato planting period. For field production it can be slightly later, while when grown as an early-maturing vegetable it can be planted slightly earlier.
