For kale planting methods and management methods, you can refer to the following techniques:
Sowing and seedling raising
In mid-to-late February, use protected cultivation for seedling raising, using about 50 grams of seed per mu. Before sowing, first water the seedbed thoroughly, then evenly broadcast the seeds, and cover with about 1 cm of fine soil. After sowing, maintain the temperature at about 25°C during the day and 15°C at night. After emergence, cover again with 1-1.5 cm of fine soil, and maintain 20-25°C during the day and 10-15°C at night. When the seedlings grow to 2-3 leaves, carry out seedling separation, with a row spacing and plant spacing of 6×6 cm. About 40 days after sowing, when the seedlings have 5-6 leaves, they can be transplanted with a soil ball.
Timely planting
Before planting, while preparing the land, apply 4000 kg of decomposed barnyard manure and 30-40 kg of ternary compound fertilizer per mu. After plowing and harrowing, make ridges 1 m wide and 15 cm high (with about 30 cm between two ridges), then cover with plastic film. From late March to early April, when the soil temperature reaches above 10°C, punch holes in the ridges and plant 2 rows of seedlings, with a row spacing and plant spacing of 50×30 cm.
Water and fertilizer management
After planting, water thoroughly for the planting water, and thereafter water whenever there is drought, keeping the soil moist at all times. Topdressing is generally carried out once every 20-30 days, applying 10-15 kg each of urea and potassium sulfate per mu. During the growing period, combine pesticide spraying with spraying 0.2% Hexin liquid fertilizer to promote robust plant growth and improve yield and quality.
Pest and disease control
The pests and diseases of kale include black spot disease, diamondback moth, cabbage caterpillar, aphids, etc. You can choose 65% Duoguoding 1000x solution, 0.2% Abamectin 1500-2000x solution, or 10% imidacloprid 2000-2500x solution for spray control.
