What pests and diseases need to be controlled in bamboo shoot cultivation? Please explain the control methods
Bamboo shoot cultivation has the following pests and diseases, and the following methods can be referenced for control:
1. Pest control: The main pests of bamboo shoots are aphids and bamboo borers. Aphids occur in more than a dozen generations per year, with overlapping generations. July to September is the peak period. They often cluster on the undersides of tender leaves to suck sap and easily cause sooty mold. For control, the selective treatment method is used. In bamboo gardens where pests occur, control is generally carried out 3 to 4 times per year: before Qingming, from Minor Heat to Major Heat, and around Winter Solstice, with one application each time. If high temperature and drought occur in August to September, one additional application is needed. For the pesticide, 25% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate can be applied by painting a ring on the bamboo stem at the 3rd to 4th node above the ground. Alternatively, 10% imidacloprid wettable powder at 3000 times dilution can be sprayed. Bamboo borers occur less frequently; if present, treat them by the above methods or handpick them.
2. Disease control: Common diseases of sweet bamboo shoots include sooty mold, rust disease, and leaf blight. Control methods: (1) Control the light penetration and ventilation conditions of the bamboo grove. Where bamboo crowns overlap excessively, thinning should be carried out appropriately, and an appropriate number of mother bamboo stems should be retained. (2) From April to June, in the early stage of disease onset, cut down infected branches and leaves and burn them. (3) Spray comprehensively with 25% propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate at 2000 times dilution, or thiophanate-methyl at 1000 times dilution, or Bordeaux mixture.
