Summer corn can be managed in July as follows:
On the premise of ensuring suitable soil moisture, sow at the right time as much as possible to ensure a full stand.
Before sowing, the seeds should be sun-dried and treated with seed coating agents or chemical seed dressing to improve seed vigor. An appropriate amount of phoxim, 25% triadimefon or 34% carboxin-thiram can be used for seed dressing.
Fertilization. Fertilization method: all phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are applied as base fertilizer; if a long-acting slow-release fertilizer is chosen for nitrogen fertilizer, it can be applied once as base fertilizer, while ordinary fertilizers such as urea and ammonium bicarbonate should be applied mainly as base fertilizer, that is, 60% as base fertilizer.
After sowing, the soil coverage of the seeds must be checked; if exposed seeds are found, manual covering should be carried out promptly (Nongbo Seed Industry).
Chemical weed control. In the selection and combination of herbicides, atrazine should be the main one, with an appropriate amount of lasoo or acetochlor and other herbicides mixed in. After spraying, sprinkler irrigation should be carried out promptly, with a watering duration of 3 hours, so that the pesticide solution is leached into the soil surface. Main diseases, insect pests and their control: smut (can be controlled with 10% triadimefon wettable powder, 12.5% diniconazole wettable powder and other agents), corn borer (3% phoxim granules, 30% acephate emulsifiable concentrate and other agents), etc.
