Large-leaf crown daisy can be grown in the open field in all three seasons of spring, summer and autumn. The detailed method can be found below:

1. Land preparation, making beds, and fertilizing. Crown daisy has a short growing period, so fertile, loose sandy loam should be chosen. For every 667 sq m, use 2500-4000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure, 50-100 kg of superphosphate, and 50 kg of ammonium bicarbonate. Deeply plow the soil so that the fertilizer and soil are thoroughly mixed. After raking level, make beds 1-1.5 m wide.

2. Sowing. Large-leaf crown daisy is mostly direct-seeded. Both drilling and broadcasting can be used. To promote germination, the seeds can be soaked and pre-germinated before sowing. The method is to soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours, remove and drain them, and pre-germinate them at 15-20°C. Once the seeds show white sprouts, they can be sown. For broadcasting, sow 3-4 kg per 667 sq m; to increase yield and improve quality, the seeding rate can be increased to 5 kg. For drilling, open furrows in the bed at a row spacing of 15-20 cm, with a furrow depth of 1 cm, and water thoroughly. The seeding rate is about 2 kg per 667 sq m. After sowing, cover with 1 cm of soil. After sowing in early spring, plastic film should be added to protect against cold; when sowing in early autumn, because the temperature is relatively high and emergence is difficult, the seeding rate should be increased, and after sowing it should be shaded against high temperatures and sunlight, and watered every day to keep the soil moist. Generally, full emergence occurs 6-7 days after sowing.

3. Field management. ① Thinning and weeding. When the seedlings grow 1-2 true leaves, thin them in time. For broadcasting, the spacing of retained seedlings is 4 cm square; for drilling, keep a plant spacing of 3-4 cm. Remove field weeds along with thinning. When raising seedlings for transplanting, transplanting can be done when the seedling age reaches about 30 days, with a density of 16 cm x 10 cm being suitable. ② Fertilizer and water management. For direct seeding in the field, after thinning, when the second leaf of the seedling unfolds, the first watering can be given. For raising seedlings for transplanting, within 2-3 days after transplanting, spray light water 1-2 times a day; afterward, water lightly once each morning or evening until the seedlings recover. Crown daisy must not lack water during the growing period, and the soil should be kept moist, but the field must not have standing water. When sowing in early spring, after the seedlings emerge, water should be properly controlled to prevent damping-off. When the plants grow to 10-12 cm, begin the first topdressing, using 10-20 kg of urea per 667 sq m, and irrigate immediately after topdressing.

4. Harvesting. Harvesting of large-leaf crown daisy is divided into one-time harvesting and staged harvesting. One-time harvesting is done 40-50 days after sowing, when the seedlings are about 20 cm tall, by cutting close to the ground. Staged harvesting has two methods: one is thinning harvest, and the other is cutting while retaining 1-2 side branches; after each harvest, water and topdress once, and after 20-30 days another cutting harvest can be made. The yield is 1000-1500 kg per 667 sq m.

5. Storage of large-leaf crown daisy. The optimum storage temperature is 0°C, and it can be stored for 10-14 days. At room temperature, after 1 day of storage, the leaves visibly wilt. The relative humidity should preferably be 98%-100%, but condensed water must not gather on the leaves, otherwise they rot easily. Pre-cooling immediately after harvest is very important.
