For kudzu cultivation, you can refer to the following methods for management:
         (1) Thinning and gap-filling of seedlings
After direct-seeded seedlings emerge completely, thin and fill gaps, keeping 1-2 strong seedlings per hole, and fill in missing plants. After transplanting seedlings, appropriately use diluted human and livestock manure water to settle the roots. During the seedling stage, weed frequently, and apply 0.3%-0.5% urea water as topdressing 2-3 times. From the second year onward, management is the same as for other transplanted seedlings.
         (2) Intertillage, weeding and fertilization
After planting kudzu, intertillage and weeding must be done 3 times in the first year: the first time after seedlings emerge completely, the second time in June-July, and the third time after leaf fall in winter. From the second year onward, intertillage is done twice each year: the first time in spring after seedlings emerge completely, and the second time in winter after leaves wither. Intertillage requires removing weeds and shallowly hoeing the soil around the holes. After each intertillage and weeding, topdressing must be applied. In the first year, apply 600-800 kg of human and livestock manure water per 667 sq m each time. In subsequent years, when topdressing, apply less nitrogen fertilizer and increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers such as superphosphate and wood ash to promote root growth.
        (3) Removing terminal buds and inflorescences
In the summer of the 1st-2nd years after planting, when the vines grow to about 2 m, the terminal buds should be removed to promote branching and increase leaf area. From May to July each year, except for planned retention of flowers and seeds, inflorescences should be removed promptly to reduce nutrient consumption.
