What are the common pests in honeysuckle cultivation?

Medicinal Herb Cultivation 0 views
What pests affect honeysuckle? How should aphids be controlled? They damage leaves and tender branches, causing leaves and flower buds to curl, growth to stop, and yield to drop sharply. Infestation is heavier from April to June; around the Start of Summer, especially on rainy days, it spreads faster. Control method: spray with a 1000- to 1500-fold dilution of 40% dimethoate or a 1000- to 1500-fold dilution of aphidicide (Mieyaling), repeatedly until they are killed.

Aphids.
Longhorn beetles. Adults emerge from the soil in May and lay eggs inside the epidermis at the upper end of branches. The larvae first activity within the epidermis, then bore into the xylem, tunneling toward the base, and after autumn bore to the base or roots to overwinter. After being damaged, plants gradually age, wither, and may even die. Control method: when adults emerge from the soil, drench the flower soil with a 1000-fold dilution of 80% trichlorfon. During peak egg-laying, spray a 600-fold dilution of 50% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate once every 7 to 10 days; when infested branches are found, cut them off and burn them; if there are borer holes, insert cotton soaked in undiluted 80% dichlorvos, seal it with mud, and poison the larvae.
Geometrid moths. After the first flush of flowers, the larvae feed on the leaves, causing reduced yield. Control method: after spring begins, dig the soil within 1 m around the plants to destroy the pupae. In the early stage of larval occurrence, spray a 400- to 600-fold dilution of 2.5% derris emulsifiable concentrate.
