What should be noted during the process of growing shiitake mushrooms?
Shiitake mushroom is a fungal food that people greatly enjoy. It is known as the “king of mountain delicacies”, contains very rich protein and extremely low fat, and is one of the preferred health foods for many people who are losing weight. Shiitake mushrooms have effects such as delaying aging and preventing cancer; they can not only effectively prevent and treat diabetes, but also have a certain effect on AIDS. At present, the market price of shiitake mushrooms also remains high, so what should we pay attention to during the process of growing shiitake mushrooms? Let's take a look below!

1. Moisture
Shiitake mushrooms require a relatively large amount of water during their growth process; moisture can promote the growth of shiitake mushrooms and make them fuller. When inoculating shiitake mushrooms, if the water content in the host wood is lower than 32%, then the inoculation rate will be greatly reduced. Below 15%, it is very difficult for the mycelium to survive and grow. During the fruiting body formation stage, the water content in the host wood must not be lower than 60%, and the humidity in the air must be at least 80%, so that shiitake mushrooms can better grow and develop normally, increasing yield and quality.
2. Temperature
Shiitake mushroom is a fungal food and has relatively high temperature requirements; it prefers warmth, and around 25 degrees is the most suitable temperature for shiitake mushroom spore germination. The temperature for mycelial growth must not be lower than 5 degrees or higher than 24 degrees. However, because shiitake mushrooms generally grow on decaying wood, the wood also provides a certain protective effect for shiitake mushrooms. Therefore, at temperatures of -20-40 degrees, the host wood of shiitake mushrooms can also survive; although the mycelium will not die, it will also stop growing. Although the growth rate of shiitake mushrooms will decrease when the temperature is too low, the final quality is still quite good; when the temperature is too high, the opposite is true.
3. Light
Shiitake mushrooms have the greatest demand for light; suitable light duration and intensity are one of the important factors for normal growth of shiitake mushrooms. But one rather strange point is that the growth of shiitake mushroom mycelium is actually highly resistant to light. Studies have shown that excessive light intensity will have a relatively large inhibitory effect on mycelial growth, but it can strongly promote the formation of primordia. Therefore, everyone needs to pay special attention during the cultivation process. Otherwise, a situation that is relatively difficult to control will appear. A series of early growth stages of shiitake mushrooms all have relatively large demands for light; for example, insufficient light will create a certain obstacle to the formation of fruiting bodies.
4. Nutrients
As said many times above, shiitake mushrooms grow on decaying wood, so the nutrients supplied for the growth of shiitake mushrooms are some carbohydrates and so on. Therefore, in order to promote the growth of shiitake mushrooms, a little nutrition should be appropriately added to the decaying wood, but these nutrients need to be dissolved in water so that they can be better absorbed by shiitake mushrooms for growth. Shiitake mushrooms do not have a high demand for vitamins; they only need vitamin B to grow normally. When shiitake mushrooms are growing, all their nutrients must be kept balanced, such as ammonium bicarbonate, magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus and some other substances; otherwise, it will cause uneven growth of shiitake mushrooms and affect their commercial value.
The above four points are the things to note when cultivating shiitake mushrooms. Shiitake mushroom is very special; it is a very delicious dish, but it does not belong to vegetables. Its cultivation method also cannot follow the usual cultivation methods for vegetables, so everyone needs to pay attention. And it is necessary to ensure that there is enough fresh air during the growth process of shiitake mushrooms; otherwise, it will cause deformation of shiitake mushrooms and a decline in their quality.
