How to increase the yield of loofah

Growing loofah is a specialty of many farmers, and loofah is grown extremely widely in our country, and its requirements for the growing location are also very low. But the yield of loofah is a pain point for many farmers, so how can the yield of loofah be increased? Today Qinnongwang will provide everyone with some methods

1. Selection of planting time

Loofah can be considered a year-round vegetable, with no strict requirements for the season, but due to weather changes, there are certain requirements for the planting time. First, the planting time should not be during the period when the seasons change, as the seedlings grown this way will not grow well; second, when planting, do not choose days with large temperature differences or excessively low temperatures, as the seedlings grown this way are prone to dying. Generally, in spring it can be planted around February, in summer planting begins in late May, in autumn in early September, and planting in winter is not very recommended. It can usually be harvested in 2-3 months.

2. Application of fertilizer and water

Fertilizer and water are an efficient way to increase yield, so the timing of fertilization must be well controlled. Loofah has relatively high requirements for water, so during the growing period the soil must be kept relatively moist. Before flowering, water 2-3 times, and after flowering, depending on the situation, once every one week to half a month. When growing loofah, it is not recommended to apply too much chemical fertilizer, as this is not conducive to growth, but urea can be appropriately increased. The amount of fertilization should be controlled at 2-3 times per cycle. Urea will promote the swelling of loofah to a certain extent.

3. Plant treatment

Usually, more attention should be paid to observing loofah seedlings, and one should not blindly pursue more flowering and more fruiting. If there is too much flowering in the early stage, some flowers should be appropriately removed to avoid all loofah being malnourished later. Second, if after fruiting it is found that all the loofah are not growing well, then some relatively small loofah should also be removed. Do not worry about the loss; if they are not removed, the fruit of the entire loofah seedling will not grow large. After fruiting for a period of time, the loofah should be trained on a trellis to prevent the later-stage loofah from becoming too large and breaking the seedling, which can also promote the growth of loofah.

4. Field management

When planting, the fruiting loofah can be appropriately fixed in a place with sunlight, which will promote the growth and photosynthesis of loofah. The support for the climbing of loofah seedlings should have a large supporting area, so that the seedlings will be vigorous and can absorb more nutrients, increasing the amount of fruiting. Some branches and leaves that grow vigorously but do not bear fruit should be removed to avoid wasting the nutrients of the loofah. Some leaves that have aged and turned yellow or diseased leaves should also be removed in time, as these are all wasting the nutrients of the loofah seedling.

If loofah is managed carefully, high yield is very simple. Low yield is often caused by everyone not managing it after planting. The above are all behaviors that everyone can improve through their own efforts, and they do not require economic cost. I hope everyone can pay attention to them.
