Broccoli Planting Time and Methods Explained in Detail
Broccoli, also known as green cauliflower, is one of the more common green vegetables on the market. It has been cultivated in China for hundreds of years. Its appearance resembles a mushroom, with granular florets forming around the stalk. Today, Qinnong Network will give everyone a brief introduction to information about broccoli cultivation.

1. Planting Time
Many people think broccoli can only be planted in one season, but this is not actually the case. Broccoli can generally be planted in two seasons, in March and July. If planting begins in mid-March, it can usually be harvested in early June; if planted in early July, it can be harvested in mid-September. Because broccoli prefers warm to cool weather, the March harvest is generally better than the July harvest.
2. Planting Methods
1. Soil
Broccoli does not have high soil requirements and prefers sandy soil, because it likes relatively breathable soil, and sandy land will increase broccoli yield to a certain extent. The soil needs to be composted in advance, and weeds must not remain in the soil after clearing. The land position should be relatively high with convenient drainage. The soil is best kept in a semi-moist state, which can enhance soil permeability, and the soil can be slightly acidic.
2. Light and Temperature
Broccoli has a relatively high demand for sunlight, and good direct sunlight can promote the compactness of the curd. However, if the temperature is too high, shading is still needed. Generally, a temperature controlled at 25°C is more suitable for broccoli growth. The best direct sunlight duration is controlled at about 6 hours. When the temperature exceeds 35°C, attention should be paid to heat protection, otherwise broccoli is prone to sunburn.
3. Fertilizer and Water Management
Because broccoli grows relatively quickly, its fertilizer and water requirements are relatively high, generally divided into 3-4 applications. One week after emergence, one topdressing is needed; next, after the curd grows, a second topdressing is needed; the later two applications depend on the growth situation. If growth is not ideal, do two applications; if ideal, one is enough. Water demand is relatively low in the early stage. Mainly after the curd grows, attention should be paid to maintaining the moisture of the curd. Generally, when watering, it is best to pour directly along the connection between the leaf surface and the root.
Broccoli is actually currently used widely in Western cuisine, and many people in China cannot accept this flavor. But compared with the past, the situation is much better now, because the nutritional value of broccoli is gradually being discovered by everyone. For better profits, everyone must manage broccoli cultivation carefully!
