What are the precautions for growing asparagus? Learn it all in one article
Asparagus is a well-known lazy person's crop, and growing it is very simple, because it has no particularly special requirements for soil, water, temperature and other aspects. Eating asparagus regularly can have a very good anti-cancer effect. Secondly, although asparagus is very easy to grow, it is still very rare on the market in our country, so its price is also more expensive than ordinary vegetables, generally around ten yuan per jin. Since its yield is not high, then below let me, Qinnong Web, teach everyone a few tips about the points to note when growing asparagus.

1. Sprouting method
Before sowing, we need to soak the asparagus seeds in warm water. They need to be soaked a little longer than other seeds, generally seven to eight days. Then take the seeds out and soak them in a formalin solution for six hours, then take them out, wrap the seeds in cotton cloth and rinse them clean in clean water, and finally wrap the seeds well and place them in a 30-degree environment to sprout. Generally after three days, eighty percent of the asparagus seeds will grow white sprouts, and then they can be sown.
2. Reasonable land preparation
Before sowing, we need to prepare the land ten days in advance. In order for asparagus to have a high yield, we generally choose a plot close to a water source, and it should be relatively flat. Try to avoid low-lying areas. If there are any, then the low-lying areas need to be filled level, and if necessary an excavator can be used. Secondly, it is best to choose relatively loose sandy soil for planting, because this has a relatively strong water infiltration capacity.
3. Planting density
Although asparagus can still be produced when the planting density is very low, if you compare carefully, you can find that asparagus grown at a relatively high density grows better and more vigorously than that grown at a low density, so do not think that the more you plant in one mu of land, the higher the yield. Reasonable planting density is the most critical. Generally, the best planting density is a spacing of twenty-five to thirty-five cm between each plant, and a spacing of one hundred cm to one hundred and fifty cm between each row.
4. Scientific fertilization
If you want to obtain a high yield, then fertilization also has its particularities. Under normal circumstances, when applying base fertilizer we need to dig trenches, and these trenches are different from ordinary trenches. Generally, they need to be dug about fifty cm deep, then livestock manure is poured into the trenches, then a layer of soil is piled on top. When it is time to plant, the place where the base fertilizer was applied needs to be watered once first. Apart from the base fertilizer, asparagus also needs three additional fertilizer applications. The first is when it breaks through the soil, mainly applying human excrement. The second is ten days before harvest, using human excrement plus a little urea. The last is after harvest is completed, scattering some organic decomposed fertilizer, urea, phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer to maintain it, so that it can grow a second time and at the same time not reduce yield.
5. Effective disease prevention
The main disease of asparagus is asparagus stem blight. The main prevention and control methods are cleaning the planting site and using ditches for drainage, cultivating and loosening the soil, applying little or no nitrogen fertilizer, and applying more potassium fertilizer, so that the plants grow robustly and their resistance is enhanced. Secondly, when the disease occurs, it is necessary to spray Bordeaux mixture or 50% carbendazim 800-1000 times, and spray insecticides to control pests. And spray the pesticide once about every 15 days.
