Panax notoginseng cultivation methods

Panax notoginseng is a fairly common medicinal herb in our daily lives. Its taste is quite bitter, and generally many people cannot accept it, but its medicinal effects are really quite good. When you have swelling somewhere, a bruise, or bleeding, its pain-relieving and swelling-reducing effects are very obvious. However, the editor does not really like Panax notoginseng, but the editor does not represent others. After all, Panax notoginseng's medicinal effects are so good that surely many people still like it. Below, what the editor wants to tell everyone today is how Panax notoginseng is cultivated, that is, its cultivation methods. Those who like it can take note.

1. Sowing time

Panax notoginseng is also a plant with fairly distinct seasons, so before planting you must choose the planting time well, otherwise it can be temperamental. If you are in the southern region of our country, then Panax notoginseng is generally sown in winter, that is, from the end of November to December each year. But if the region where you are located is the northern region of our country, then it should be sown in spring, that is, around March or April. The sowing time is generally determined according to different regions.

2. Seed selection and land preparation

For Panax notoginseng seeds, freshly picked ones are generally better, so we prepare the seeds before planting each year. Generally, we choose plump, red, fully mature seeds that have not been contaminated by pests or diseases for sowing. Of course, you can also buy seeds. Generally, bought seeds have already been treated, so they are more convenient to use. Panax notoginseng is generally planted on plots with relatively high terrain, that is, what we usually call mountain land, and with a certain slope, which facilitates drainage. Secondly, it is best if the soil is relatively loose black soil, which is the best, so that permeability and soil fertility can both be guaranteed. When preparing the land, we all need to make beds and dig furrows. The width of the bed is generally about 1.5 m, then the bed is leveled, and 5,000 jin of farmyard manure, 50 jin of compound fertilizer, and 30 jin of potassium fertilizer are spread on it. Finally, you can wait to sow.

3. Sowing and transplanting

If the seeds are collected by yourself, then seed treatment is needed. We generally rub off the outermost peel of the seeds, then put them into a basin containing a carbendazim solution and soak them for about 20 minutes, then take them out and drain the water. Finally, put the seeds into plant ash and stir evenly, so that the surface of the seeds is evenly coated with plant ash, and finally place them at a suitable temperature to promote germination. After most of the seeds have sprouted, they can be sown. If the seeds are bought, they can be sown directly. The sowing method is the same. You can use dibbling or drilling, sowing at a spacing of 20 cm between each plant and 22 to 30 cm between each row. After about 15 days, sprouts will grow. At this time, we need to begin transplanting the sprouts in the field. In some places where they are relatively dense, we will pull some out and transplant them elsewhere for planting. The transplanting density should remain consistent with the sowing density.

4. Fertilizer and water management

When it comes to fertilizer and water management, let us first talk about the water management of Panax notoginseng. The growth of Panax notoginseng requires a large amount of water, so when planting, it is best to choose mountain land with relatively abundant water sources, because basically every 3 to 5 days it needs to be watered once, and the soil moisture must be maintained at all times. Of course, if there is a rainy season, then we need to drain water, because the planting terrain has a slope, so drainage is also very simple. As long as the field ditches are cleared, the water can drain out automatically. The entire growth period of Panax notoginseng can be divided into three stages, so fertilizer needs to be applied three times. The first fertilization is around March each year, that is, the period when Panax notoginseng grows seedlings. On average, one mu needs 5,000 jin of compound fertilizer. The second fertilization is the seedling-promoting period of Panax notoginseng. On average, one mu needs about 3,000 jin of compound fertilizer. The last time is the root-promoting period of Panax notoginseng, which needs 4,000 jin of compound fertilizer, and it also needs to be combined with 500 jin of phosphate fertilizer, 300 jin of potassium fertilizer, and 100 jin of boron fertilizer. After each fertilization, be sure to remember to water, otherwise it will be burned.

5. Disease control

The main ones are damping-off disease and phytophthora blight. For damping-off disease, 70% thiophanate-methyl 1000-fold solution can be used for foliar spraying, spraying once every two or three days, and it can be cured with at most three sprays. For phytophthora blight, use 70% mancozeb 500 to 600-fold solution for spraying, once every 3 days, for 3 consecutive times. Of course, Panax notoginseng sometimes also develops yellow rust and powdery mildew and other diseases. We can use Bordeaux mixture for spraying. If there are other diseases, you can promptly ask relevant professionals. The most common insect pests of Panax notoginseng are red spiders and aphids. We can use trichlorfon or imidacloprid 1 solution for control, and the effect is very good.
