Key points of goji berry cultivation techniques, teaching you to effectively increase yield
Goji berry is a medicinal herb we use quite often nowadays, but we generally use it to make tea or process it into beverages. After several years in the doldrums, goji berries have once again entered our lives, but due to various reasons, the cultivation area of goji berries has decreased, and the cultivation yield is not very satisfactory, so many people have expanded their planting one after another, but the results are not very obvious. So how should we plant them to increase the yield of goji berries? Let Qinnong Web tell you below.

1. Timely planting
If you want to increase the yield of goji berries, then you have to start from the most basic aspects. First of all, every plant has a time and environment suitable for its growth. The most suitable temperature for goji berry growth is around 15 degrees, and it can be planted in most areas of our country, but the most suitable time to plant goji berries is from early March to early April every spring. Whether it is rainfall or temperature, it is very favorable for the growth of goji berries. Planting at this time, the survival rate is several times that of other times, which means the survival rate is basically as high as 90%, so the problem of goji berry yield is fundamentally solved.
2. Select good varieties
There are now very many varieties of goji berries. Although goji berries have strong adaptability to the environment, some varieties still fall short in certain aspects, such as disease resistance or drought resistance. The most common goji berries in northern China are generally red goji berries and black goji berries, but the yield of black goji berries is not high, which means red goji berries are more suitable for growing in the north. Therefore, when planting, you must choose varieties according to the climate and soil structure of your location, so as to ensure yield.
3. Reasonable density
The goji berry plant is not very large, but the planting density still needs attention. If the density is reasonable, it can also increase yield to a certain extent. The best planting density is a spacing of one meter between plants and about two meters between rows. Of course, we can judge according to the fertility of the soil. If the soil is relatively fertile, then generally about 200 plants can be planted per mu. If the land is relatively barren, at least 300 plants can be planted, so as to ensure the air permeability in the goji berry field and allow better photosynthesis.
4. Seedling treatment
Before planting, the purchased goji berry seedlings need to be treated. First, all of a portion of the branches and leaves of the goji berry seedlings need to be cut off, leaving only the main trunk. Then observe whether there is any damage to the roots of the seedlings. If there is, those roots need to be cut off, and then apply a layer of medicine to the cut parts. Finally, soak the seedlings in clean water for about one day, and then they can be planted. The purpose of doing this is to avoid excessive growth of the seedlings and enhance the resistance of the seedlings.
5. Fertilizer and water management
Goji berries can be harvested for many years, so the fertilization each year will be a little different, but they are generally the same. Each year we generally need to apply topdressing three to four times. The first year is after the goji berries survive, and we need to apply a certain dose of phosphate fertilizer. When they bloom and bear fruit, we mainly use nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, which can prolong the flowering period and increase the fruit-setting rate. The third time is when the fruit is about to mature, mainly using phosphate fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer, with the purpose of ripening. Finally, after the fruit is harvested, fertilization still needs to be carried out once to ensure the yield of the coming year.
