Seed selection and germination
Choose varieties with strong cold resistance; generally 1.5-2 kg of seed is needed per mu. 3-5 days before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water at 30°C for 24 hours, rinse and air-dry them, then place them under 15-20°C for germination, rinsing once daily with warm water; sow once the seeds have sprouted.
Fertilization and soil preparation
While preparing the soil, apply 20-25 kg of diammonium phosphate, 10-15 kg of potassium sulfate, and 25 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu; after deep plowing and leveling, make flat beds 1-1.5 m wide, then rake the bed surface level and firm it by treading.
Proper sowing
There are two sowing methods: (1) Broadcast sowing: water the bed, and after the water has seeped in, scatter the seeds evenly and cover with 0.5-1 cm of soil. (2) Drill sowing: open furrows in the bed at a row spacing of 15-20 cm and a depth of 0.5-1 cm, water the furrows, sow the seeds in rows, then cover with soil.
Strengthen management
After sowing, maintain the temperature at 20-25°C during the day and about 10°C at night. After emergence, 15-20°C during the day and 8-10°C at night is suitable. When the seedlings grow to 1-2 leaves, thin them: for broadcast-sown beds, leave plants at a spacing of 4×4 cm; for drill-sown beds, simply thin out excessively dense seedlings as appropriate. Begin watering when the seedlings are 3 cm tall, and when they are about 10 cm tall, apply a topdressing with the irrigation water, using 10-15 kg of ammonium sulfate per mu. Apply topdressing another 1-2 times along with watering, and reasonably spray 600-fold cytokinin to increase yield and quality.
Pest and disease control
If leaf blight, downy mildew, etc. occur, spray with 72.2% Previcur or 72% Kelu at 800-fold dilution for control.
