When growing sweet corn, pay attention to the following:
1. Site selection: choose a plot with good water conditions and good soil texture.
2. Raising seedlings and transplanting: raise seedlings in nutritional pots or nutritional trays.
3. Seedling stage management: single-seed dibbling, water in time; if seedlings are weak, appropriately water with clear manure water or scatter a small amount of urea.
4. Standardized bed opening: open beds at 1.1 m, with a 20 cm ditch; shallowly open a fertilizer ditch in the center of the bed; apply 1000-2000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per mu, and 60 kg of Nongjiale No. 1 (special for corn); after thorough mixing, rake level.
5. Plastic film mulching: before covering the film, spray 41% Yunongsi emulsifiable concentrate on the ground at 100 g per mu to kill weeds; adopt the method of covering the film first and then breaking the film for planting; press and seal the edges of the film tightly.
6. Oriented transplanting in wide-narrow rows. Specification (90+40)/2 x 22 cm, plant about 4300 plants per mu; after planting, water thoroughly to settle the roots.
7. Fertilizer and water management: topdressing can be done 10 days after planting; apply 5 kg of urea per mu as a seedling-promoting fertilizer; at the large trumpet stage, apply 15-20 kg of urea; spray the leaves with 600 times diluted Prodan (high-potassium type) 3-4 times.
8. Remove tillers and set ears: promptly strip off ineffective tillers, leaving one ear per plant.
9. Pest and disease control:
Corn borer: use 70-90 ml of 5% Yitaibao per mu or 50-80 ml of 48% Lesiben emulsifiable concentrate per mu, diluted with water and sprayed over the whole field; spraying in the morning is preferable.
Aphids and cabbage caterpillars: when 50% of tassels have emerged, spray the whole field with 800-1000 times diluted Lulang (biological pesticide), once every 10 days.
10. Timely harvest: generally harvest 18-22 days after pollination; nighttime or early morning when the temperature is cool is better.
11. Grade fresh ears for market.
