What does zinc deficiency in corn look like? How can it be prevented and controlled?

Symptoms of zinc deficiency in corn: the plant grows slowly and the internodes become shorter. When zinc is deficient at the seedling stage and early growth stage, the lower half of new leaves appears pale yellow or even white; as this leaf grows, pale yellow chlorotic striped patches appear between the veins, and white or yellow broad bands of tissue or necrotic patches may even be seen between the midrib and the margins, showing a "mosaic" appearance. In severe zinc deficiency, pale white symptoms first appear at the leaf tip, after which the leaf suddenly turns black with a peculiar metallic sheen, and the plant dies after 3-5 days. When zinc is deficient in the middle and late growth stages, the silking stage and tasseling stage of the female ears are delayed, and the ears have missing kernels and bald tips. Remedial method: spray the leaves with a 0.1%-0,2% zinc sulfate solution 2-3 times, once every 7-10 days, spraying about 50 kg of fertilizer solution per mu.
