A new method for sprouting rice seeds can solve this problem. The main advantages of this method are: first, it can increase the sprouting rate to above 95%, with strong sprouts and short roots, and it is safe and reliable; second, it shortens the seed soaking and sprouting time. From soaking to standard sprouts, it generally takes only about 48 hours, at least half the time of other methods, which is helpful for sowing in good time; third, it is simple to operate and saves labor and time. The specific operation techniques are as follows:
    1. Preparation of the hotbed before sprouting: Wrap an electric blanket with 2-3 layers of new plastic agricultural film (do not use mulch film or microfilm), so that water cannot enter around the electric blanket and cause moisture damage and electric leakage. Then choose a room with good insulation. After cleaning it, spread virus-free dry rice straw or other insulating material as a base 16-20 cm thick. Lay the electric blanket wrapped in film flat on the insulating material, then spread a straw mat or the like on the electric blanket for piling the seeds to sprout, and surround the hotbed with wooden boards.
    2. Seed disinfection: At a ratio of 10 g of strong chlorinated disinfectant plus 5 kg of 45°C warm water, stir well and soak 3.5 kg of seeds, disinfect for 2 hours, then remove, wash clean with clear water, drain, and prepare for sprouting.
    3. Preheating the rice seeds: Pour the disinfected seed grain into a container filled with 55°C hot water, stirring while pouring. After letting it stand for 3-5 minutes, stir again to adjust the temperature 3-4 times, so that the seed grain is fully preheated and absorbs water in about 35°C warm water for about 1 hour.
    4. Sprouting with an electric blanket: Remove the preheated water-absorbed seed grain and drain it, then spread and pile it evenly on the electric blanket hotbed. Generally, 1 single-person electric blanket can sprout 15-25 kg of rice seeds. Then cover the seed grain with plastic film, add insulating material on top of the film, seal and tie the surroundings firmly, and then switch on the power to sprout. Insert 2-3 thermometers at equal distances in the hotbed, always maintaining a temperature of 25-32°C. If it reaches 39°C, cut off the power to cool it down. In order not to burn out the electric blanket, the power can be cut off for 3-5 hours at noon during the day. During sprouting, check temperature and humidity frequently. If the rice seeds are slightly dry, spray water in time to increase humidity, and often turn them to exchange air so that the rice seeds are heated evenly and the sprouts are uniform and strong. With this method, the rice seeds begin to break their hulls after 8-10 hours, and after 24 hours more than 90% can be reached. After hull breaking and sprouting, control the temperature at 25-28°C, keep the humidity at about 80%, and maintain this for about 12 hours to sprout standard sprouts ready for sowing. Other management methods are the same as conventional ones.
