The planting process for autumn pumpkins can be referenced as follows:
1. Select varieties: choose excellent varieties.
2. Sowing and raising seedlings: autumn pumpkins are best sown from mid-July to early August. For raising seedlings, it is best to use nutrient pots, place the radicle facing down, cover with 1-1.5 cm of fine soil, and then cover with a layer of straw or weeds.
3. Land preparation and planting: before plowing, apply decomposed farmyard manure, potassium sulfate compound fertilizer, and potassium sulfate, then plow deeply and harrow finely. Planting should preferably be done after 5 p.m. or on cloudy days. After planting or direct sowing, water once thoroughly to help the seedlings recover or emerge.
4. Field management: when the pumpkin has grown 3-4 true leaves, spray a 2500-fold diluted solution of ethephon to promote earlier opening of female flowers and earlier setting of young fruit. For fertilizer and water management, topdressing can be carried out after the second fruit has set according to the growth of the vines.
By mastering the above methods, you can cultivate high-quality autumn pumpkins.
