Select good varieties Choose varieties such as Cuiying 101, Yinqing Yidai, Yuguan, Yuchun, Yunu, and others.
Pre-sowing preparation Choose fertile vegetable garden soil for cultivation, with the previous crop preferably non-cucurbit crops such as corn or solanaceous vegetables. Before sowing, plow the soil deeply and apply base fertilizer. Apply 2000-3000 kg of decomposed chicken manure, 50 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, 50 kg of superphosphate, 30 kg of potassium sulfate, and 1 kg of zinc sulfate per mu. Level the soil and make east-west oriented ridges, with a ridge base width of 40 cm and a ridge spacing of 40 cm. Cover the ridge surface with thick black plastic film.
Sow at the right time Before sowing, soak the seeds in 55°C warm water or 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for 4 hours. Sow in mid-to-late August. Punch holes in the film at a plant spacing of 40-50 cm, sow 2 seeds per hole, water after sowing, and cover the surface with a shade net.
Cultivation and weeding After emergence, it is the high-temperature and rainy season. Cultivate and weed together, and earth up around the roots. Generally, cultivate 2-3 times.
Fertilizer and water management When the seedlings develop their "cross" leaves, taking advantage of the high field humidity, apply 30 kg of diammonium phosphate per mu as a top dressing. When the soil is dry, mix it into 1000 kg of decomposed manure water and apply it as a top dressing in holes. During the seedling stage, drain accumulated water from the ridges promptly after heavy rain.
Hand pollination From 8-9 AM, dip flowers with 2,4-D or spray flowers with Qiangli Zuoguoling, which can prevent flower and fruit drop. The application concentration of both 2,4-D and Qiangli Zuoguoling is 20-30 mg/kg.
Pest and disease control The main diseases of fall zucchini include viral disease, gray mold, and powdery mildew. To control viral disease, on the basis of controlling pests such as aphids and small brown planthoppers, spray with 500x solution of Bingdu A or Bingdu Bike, or spray with Junduqing (800x solution) plus zinc sulfate (300x solution). To control gray mold, spray with 2000x solution of Sukeling or 1000-1500x solution of Puhaiyin at the early stage of the disease. To control powdery mildew, spray with 1800x solution of 20% triadimefon emulsifiable concentrate or 800x solution of Fuxing.
Harvest in time Fall zucchini tends to become old, so it should be picked promptly. Generally, harvest 7-8 days after the flowers fade.
