How do you control silverleaf disease in zucchini? What does silverleaf disease look like?

Affected zucchini plants show weak growth, a shorter plant type, drooping leaves, wrinkled leaves at the growing point, and a semi-dormant state, with shortened internodes on the upper stem; the stems, young leaves, and petioles of functional leaves become chlorotic, leaf chlorophyll content decreases, and leaves initially appear silver or bright white along the veins, later turning silver over the entire leaf and glistening in sunlight, while the underside of the leaf remains normal in color. Young fruit and the bases of flower organs and the calyx turn white, and semi-finished and marketable fruit also become whitish, appearing milky white or alternating white and green, losing their market value.
Occurrence pattern
At present, silverleaf symptoms are considered to be caused by damage from the tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). Leaves with insects do not necessarily show symptoms, but silverleaf appears later on new leaves. The 3-4 leaf stage is the sensitive period.
Control measures
(1) Control the tobacco whitefly. For control measures, see tobacco whitefly.
(2) While controlling insects, spray Yunda-120, Tianda 2116, foliar fertilizer, endogenous hormones, etc., to increase the crop's disease resistance.
