How should you top-dress head cabbage when growing it? Please explain the method
Head cabbage's fertilizer requirements are mainly nitrogen and potassium, with a suitable amount of phosphate fertilizer. Throughout the entire growth process, the combined ratio of the three major elements N:P:K is 3:1:4. Analyzing by growth stage, the seedling stage needs more chlorine, reaching a peak at the rosette stage. The head-forming stage needs more phosphorus and potassium, and the head-forming stage has the largest growth amount, accounting for about 70%-80% of the entire growth period.
The specific top-dressing method is: about ten days after head cabbage is planted out, after watering and intertillage to control growth, the first top-dressing can begin, applying 10-15 kg of chemical fertilizer or about 1000 kg of human manure and urine per mu, providing sufficient nutrients for the rosette stage growth. At the beginning of the rosette leaf stage, a second top-dressing can be carried out, appropriately increasing the concentration of human manure and urine, and adding 15-20 kg of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer to accelerate rapid leaf growth. At the full rosette stage, a third top-dressing can be carried out; a furrow should be opened or holes dug between the rows, and organic fertilizer and fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate and superphosphate should be applied, then covered with soil and watered. After head formation begins, at the early and middle stages, top-dress twice more respectively, each time applying 15-20 kg of ammonium phosphate. By the late head-forming stage of head cabbage, fertilizer is generally no longer applied.
