How to prune sweet peppers properly? Please explain the reasons

For late-autumn cultivation of sweet peppers, if moderate pruning is carried out, old plants can be renewed and rejuvenated, and another peak fruiting period will occur in autumn, thereby increasing the per-mu yield of sweet peppers. The specific method is:
After the peak fruiting period, around late July to early August, cut the second or third branches of the sweet pepper back to 2 leaves. After pruning, control water appropriately; after a few days, 4-8 young shoots will grow, with one leaf and one fruit per shoot and no further branching. At this time, apply topdressing and water to promote new shoot growth. One month after pruning, the new shoots generally bloom and bear fruit. In late August, pinch off the growing tips of all new shoots to promote expansion of young fruits, and harvest everything before the first frost. The yield after pruning accounts for 20%-30% of the total yield, an increase of about 30% compared with no pruning.
