Compared with other vegetables, sweet peppers have an underdeveloped root system and weak regeneration ability after the roots are damaged. Especially now that the air temperature is high and the soil temperature is also high, which is already unfavorable for the normal growth of sweet peppers, topdressing management should be even more careful. Only reasonable topdressing can effectively promote rooting, cultivate strong plants, and increase yield.
First, apply a small amount of flushing fertilizer before fruiting to promote roots and strengthen plants. Generally speaking, before sweet peppers set fruit, it is not suitable to apply large amounts of chemical fertilizer by flushing, otherwise it easily causes excessive vegetative growth. However, in summer, during the early planting stage, sweet peppers are prone to slow rooting and slow seedling recovery due to excessively high soil temperature, so topdressing (mainly functional fertilizers) is needed to promote rooting and lift the seedlings. Generally, Dayuan Xin Kuai Qiang Shou or chitosan can be used together with Fangrun (20-20-20) for flushing application to promote rooting. Use 40-50 jin of Dayuan Xin Kuai Qiang Shou per mu, and 5-10 jin of Fangrun.
Second, apply an appropriate amount of flushing fertilizer in the early fruiting stage to promote plant growth and fruit development. Start topdressing when the fruit has set and is about the size of a walnut. This topdressing should not be too early or too late. If too early, the ample supply of nutrients and water will cause the plants to grow too vigorously and affect flower and fruit development; if too late, it easily affects plant growth. At this time, Fangrun (20-10-30) can be selected for topdressing, 10-15 jin per mu.
Third, apply large amounts of flushing fertilizer during the full fruiting stage to preserve flowers and promote fruit development. As the plants enter the full fruiting stage, reproductive growth becomes dominant, and the purpose of flushing fertilizer is mainly to ensure normal fruit expansion and normal flower bud differentiation. As the plants bear a large amount of fruit, the amount of fertilizer needed should also gradually increase, but considering the high-temperature factor in summer, it is not suitable to apply excessive fertilizer at one time. For example, when flushing with Fangrun, apply 15 jin each time, and apply it several times in succession.
