Autumn-sown wheat seeds should be treated as follows:
1. Pest control treatment. For wheat underground pests such as mole crickets, white grubs, and wireworms, you can use 0.5 kg of 50% 1605 emulsion, add 50 kg of water, mix with 500 kg of seed, and let it sit for 4-6 hours; or use 0.5 kg of 75% phoxim emulsion, add 50-100 kg of water, mix with 500-1000 kg of seed, and pile and cover for more than 4 hours; or use 0.5 kg of 75% 3911 emulsion, add 15-25 kg of water, mix with 150-250 kg of seed, and let it sit for 12-24 hours for control. At the same time, it can also kill aphids and small brown planthoppers, and simultaneously control yellow dwarf disease and bushy stunt disease.
2. Disease control treatment. For wheat rot, at sowing time you can use 0.3% of seed weight captan, thiram, or asomate, or 0.15% carbendazim or carboxin to dress the seed, which not only significantly reduces the disease incidence but also promotes seed germination and seedling retention; for wheat scab, soak the seed with 1% quicklime water, with water covering the seed by 9.9-13.2 cm, soaking for 3-4 days at a temperature of 20°C, 2 days at 25°C, and one day at 30°C. After putting the seed into the lime water, stirring is prohibited to prevent reducing the sterilizing effect. For wheat bunt, dress the seed with 0.3% of seed weight hexachlorobenzene, or 0.3% phygon, or 0.2% quintozene, or 0.3% thiram.
3. Drought resistance treatment. Add 3 kg of crushed superphosphate to 50 kg of clean water, stir thoroughly with a wooden stick, then let it stand, pour the clarified liquid into another container to obtain a 6% superphosphate extract, then add 50 g of boric acid and stir evenly to obtain a phosphorus-boron mixed liquid. Spray the phosphorus-boron mixed liquid at 10% of the air-dried seed weight, turning the seed while spraying, ensuring every seed is evenly coated with the solution. After treating the seed with this method, the plant's water absorption and retention capacity is enhanced, which helps protect the protoplasm within the plant and shows a drought-tolerant effect.
4. Plant growth regulator treatment. For seed soaking with Fuleding, take 1 mL of the stock solution per kilogram of wheat seed, dilute and mix with 2 kg of water, submerge the seed for 8-24 hours, then remove the seed and dry it in the shade before sowing. Soaking seeds with this method can enhance drought resistance, cold resistance, and disease resistance, and strengthen the wheat's growth vigor and vitality.
5. Micronutrient treatment. Wheat is not sensitive to zinc, but applying it significantly increases yield. For seed dressing, use a ratio of 5-6 g of zinc sulfate per kilogram of seed. Weigh the zinc sulfate, dissolve it in a small amount of water, spray it onto the wheat seed, stirring while spraying, and mix the wheat seed evenly using small amounts added multiple times.
