How do you plant cherry radishes in summer? Please provide guidance
Summer's high temperatures and heavy rain make cherry radishes prone to uneven emergence and severe pests and diseases, so cultivation measures should be adjusted appropriately. The planting method can refer to the following:
1. Land preparation and fertilization. Cherry radishes are highly adaptable to soil, but sandy loam rich in humus, with deep soil layers and good drainage, is best. Before sowing, plow the soil deeply, broadcast 2500-3000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer and 35 kg of superphosphate per mu as base fertilizer, and make flat beds. If soil moisture is insufficient, water in advance to build up soil moisture.
2. Sowing. Use seeds harvested in the past two years, with a seeding rate of 1 kg per mu. Sow from late May to early August, with a row spacing of 10 cm, a hole spacing of 3-4 cm, and a sowing depth of 1.5 cm. Rice husks, ash fertilizer, etc. can be used to cover the seeds. Cover with a shade net and keep the field moist but not waterlogged.
3. Field management. Thin the seedlings when they have 2-4 true leaves. Regulate the temperature inside the shed by strengthening ventilation, extending the shade net coverage time, and watering in the morning and evening. During the seedling stage, maintain soil moisture at about 60%, and follow the principle of watering little but often. From the stage when the taproot splits open to the stage when the shoulder is exposed, increase the water supply appropriately. During the peak root growth period, water fully and evenly, keeping soil moisture at 70-80%. Apply a top dressing once when the seedlings have 4-5 true leaves and once when the taproot splits open, or apply one dressing during the root swelling stage, generally using decomposed human manure and urine mixed with an appropriate amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and diluted with water. The main pests and diseases of cherry radishes grown in greenhouses in summer are viral disease and aphids, so pay attention to early prevention and control.
