What should be noted when planting soybeans in summer? Please give guidance
Summer-planted soybeans have small plants and a short growth period. To obtain a relatively high yield within a limited time, field management should focus on promotion, achieving "three earlies and two skillfuls."
1. Thin seedlings early, leave seedlings evenly. Summer soybeans have a short seedling stage, so thin seedlings early and establish the final stand early. When the plants are 3 cm tall, thin and establish the stand along with intertillage. The final stand density per mu should be slightly more than 30,000 plants. Thinning and stand establishment should be completed in one operation.
2. Early intertillage. During the seedling stage of summer soybeans, temperatures are high, rainfall is plentiful, seedlings are short, and ground cover is sparse, so intertillage should be done early during the seedling stage to break up soil compaction, keep the soil loose and soft, prevent weed overgrowth, and promote seedling root development and vigorous growth. Generally intertill 2-3 times, and finish before flowering.
3. Early topdressing. After soybeans begin flowering, they enter the stage where vegetative growth and reproductive growth occur together, and water and nutrient requirements increase sharply. Therefore, at the beginning of flowering, combine with intertillage and apply 7-10 kg of urea per mu. If soybeans are found to grow slowly, with small and dark leaves, the topdressing time can be advanced by 7-10 days, and 10-15 kg per mu is suitable. For plots deficient in phosphorus, 25 kg of superphosphate per mu can be applied at the flowering stage. During the flowering and pod-setting stage, for weak seedlings, a 0.3% solution of monopotassium phosphate can be sprayed, and for vigorous seedlings, a 200 mg/kg solution of paclobutrazol can be sprayed on the leaves, which can increase yield.
4. Skillful irrigation. Summer soybeans often encounter high-temperature and drought weather at sowing or during the seedling stage. Plots with irrigation conditions can be watered appropriately to keep soil moisture at about 20%. Water timely during the flowering and pod stage to keep soil moisture at about 30%,
which helps increase yield.
5. Skillful pest and disease control. At the flowering stage, spray with decis or kungfu 1000-fold solution at 75-100 kg per mu 2-3 times to control soybean pod borer, with each interval 7-10 days; use mie sao li or fenpropathrin 1000-fold solution at 30 kg per mu to control red spider mites. For frogeye leaf spot, 70% thiophanate-methyl can be used at 60-100 grams per mu for spraying.
