Large ginger rot is mainly caused by ginger blast. Results from many years of trials show that prevention and treatment of this disease should focus on agricultural measures, supplemented by chemicals. Specifically, 75 kg of lime should be spread per mu in the planting site; when the plants grow to about 35 cm tall, spray once, and thereafter apply the chemical once every 2-3 weeks. The chemicals that can be used include: 72% agricultural streptomycin sulfate 2000x solution, or 50% DT bactericidal gel suspension 500x solution, or 400x Nongkang 120 solution. The above three chemicals should be used alternately, not mixed. In addition, during the growth of ginger seedlings, if diseased plants are found, they should be dug out early, the surrounding soil should be removed with them, and a mixture of lime and sulfur powder should be reapplied to control the worsening of the disease.
