Cilantro likes a cool climate and cannot tolerate high temperatures; it stops growing when the temperature exceeds 30°C. So how can cilantro be grown well in the hot summer? You can refer to the following cultivation methods:
        1. Variety selection: choose varieties that are heat-tolerant, bolt late, and grow fast.
         2. Land preparation and fertilization: choose a plot with relatively fertile soil and good permeability that has not grown cilantro for more than 5 years; continuous cropping must not be used. Apply 4200 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per mu. The residues of the previous crop must be cleared away to reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases. Plow deeply and harrow finely. The beds should preferably be 1-1.5 m wide and 8-10 m long.
          3. Seed soaking and germination: generally sow in May-June. Harvest 40-50 days after sowing. Soak the seeds to promote germination before sowing. Germination method: first soak the seeds in clean water for 24-30 hours, then take them out and spread them on a moist, uncontaminated burlap sack to a thickness of 2-3 cm, and cover with a moist burlap sack. At a temperature of 20-25°C, stir 1-2 times a day, keep the seeds with a certain amount of moisture, and after 3-4 days they will sprout and can be sown.
         4. Broadcasting and seedling preservation: for summer cilantro, broadcasting is better. The broadcasting method is "sow two beds first and leave one bed". Take the covering soil prepared for the first sown beds and place it on the surfaces of the reserved beds on both sides. Then irrigate fully, and after the water has seeped through, sow evenly, cover with 2 cm of soil after sowing, and then sow the remaining empty beds in the same way as the first sowing. Use about 2 kg of seed per mu. After all sowing is completed, press once to preserve soil moisture. If the weather is dry and soil moisture is low, which will affect emergence, a light irrigation can be given once.
          5. Field management: when the seedlings are 4-5 cm high, thin them and weed, ensuring a plant spacing of 2-4 cm. After thinning, apply a light manure water topdressing together with irrigation. When the seedlings are 7-8 cm high, apply the first fertilizer; at this time the application rate should be larger, with 20-30 kg of ammonium sulfate applied per mu. Keep the soil moist, watering once every 4-5 days. Also use shading to lower the temperature. Summer cilantro can be harvested in batches along with thinning.
