How to prevent weeds when growing autumn radish? Please explain the methods
Late August to early September is the sowing period for autumn and winter radish. After emergence, radish grows slowly in the early stage, and the seedlings are small, making them vulnerable to weed damage. Especially in weather with frequent autumn rain, the amount of weed emergence and growth is large, which can severely inhibit the growth and development of radish, so it should be controlled early.
Common weeds in radish fields include barnyardgrass, green foxtail, bermudagrass, shortawn foxtail, threeleaf sedge, lambsquarters, water pepper, duck tongue grass, chickweed, speedwell, and others. After sowing radish but before emergence, use 250-400 g of 25% linuron wettable powder per mu, or 100-150 mL of 48% trifluralin emulsifiable concentrate, or 300-400 mL of 50% thiobencarb emulsifiable concentrate, or Dual Gold (72% S-metolachlor emulsifiable concentrate) 100-150 mL, add 40-50 kg of water and spray for soil-closing treatment. After applying trifluralin, it needs to be mixed into the soil to a depth of 2-3 cm.
At the radish seedling stage, to control broadleaf weeds, at the 2-4 leaf stage of broadleaf weeds, use 10-15 mL of Cobra (24% lactofen emulsifiable concentrate) per mu, add 15-30 kg of water and spray; to control grass weeds, at the 3-5 leaf stage of grass weeds, use 20-35 mL of 10.8% haloxyfop-R-methyl emulsifiable concentrate per mu or 75-125 mL of 35% fluazifop-P-butyl emulsifiable concentrate, add 40-50 kg of water and spray.
