The control methods for root-knot nematode disease in Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) can be referred to as follows:
    1. Damage symptoms
The disease damages the roots of Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza). The affected taproots, lateral roots and fibrous roots all bear tumor-like root galls; the taproots and lateral roots become thinner, and the fibrous roots increase in number. Fine hairy roots grow on the galls. After the nematode parasitizes, the function of the root system is damaged, causing the aboveground part of the plant to be obviously dwarfed, the leaves to turn yellow, and the growth to be stunted, affecting the yield.
    2. Control methods
    1. Crop rotation: Carry out rotation with gramineous crops for more than 3 years, which can reduce the nematode density in the soil. The longer the rotation period, the better the effect. Note that rotation must not be carried out with host plants of root-knot nematode disease.
    2. Chemical treatment: Use 3% Miral granular formulation 1.5 to 2 kg per mu, mix with 50 kg of dry fine soil, apply into the soil at a depth of 20 cm 10 days before sowing, and immediately cover with soil and press flat. Alternatively, use 98% dazomet (Basamid) granular formulation 5 to 6 kg per mu, mix evenly with an appropriate amount of dry fine soil, and apply into the sowing furrow at the time of sowing.
