To achieve higher yields when growing cucumbers, you can refer to the following 5 methods.

  Method 1: Foliar feeding:
Spraying a 0.3% urea water solution during the seedling stage can promote early seedling growth. You can also spray a 0.5% ferrous sulfate solution to promote healthy seedling growth and make the leaves dark green. Spraying a 0.2% boric acid solution at the 7-leaf stage can preserve flowers and fruits; when a large number of cucumbers are forming, spraying a mixed solution of 0.3% monopotassium phosphate and 0.5% urea for supplemental feeding can preserve the cucumbers and increase yield.

Method 2: Spraying chicken manure liquid:
Spraying cucumber plants with chicken manure liquid not only supplements deficiencies in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements, but also stimulates crop growth and development, promotes early maturity and increased yield, and enhances drought resistance, cold resistance and disease resistance.
According to farmer trials, spraying chicken manure liquid 3 times during the cucumber growing period can increase yield by about 15%. The method is: take 3 kg of dry chicken manure, add 50 kg of water, soak for 5-7 days, after full fermentation, filter out the residue, and spray on the leaves. Begin spraying when the first cucumber is the thickness of a finger, using 30-40 kg of liquid per mu, with each spraying interval of 10 days, spraying in the afternoon or evening.

  Method 3: Artificial assisted pollination:
After cucumbers bloom, carry out artificial assisted pollination by pointing the collected male flower stamens at the stigma of the female flower and gently dabbing a few times, which can reduce cucumber drop and fruit abortion, increase the fruit-setting rate, and increase cucumber yield.

  Method 4: Artificial emasculation:
During the peak fruiting period, emasculate once about every five days, keeping 5%-10% of the male flowers. In the early fruiting period, the emasculation interval can be longer, once every 6-7 days. Emasculating cucumbers can reduce nutrient consumption, promote plant growth, and increase yield.

  Method 5: Pinching:
For weak-growing side vines, pinch after fruit set; for vigorously growing side vines, tidy and utilize them, which can increase the fruit-bearing population and increase yield.
