For the harm and control methods of flower topping in cucumbers, please refer to the list below.

Causes and harm of flower topping in cucumbers:
In early spring, late autumn or the colder winter season, if management is improper, cucumbers are highly prone to root scorching, root rot, excessively low nighttime temperatures and root damage, all of which can cause flower topping in cucumbers, preventing them from flowering and setting fruit normally.

Control methods for flower topping in cucumbers:
Water reasonably in daily care so that the soil water-holding capacity reaches 22% and the relative humidity reaches 65%. After watering, cultivate the soil promptly to strengthen soil temperature management, raising the soil temperature above 12°C as quickly as possible to prevent root scorching or root rot. If the roots are found to be grayish-white and water-soaked, stop watering, cultivate the soil promptly, and if necessary open furrows to sun the soil, so as to raise the soil temperature and reduce soil moisture content as much as possible. At the same time, remove the small cucumbers already set on the plants to reduce nutrient consumption and promote root growth.

In the greenhouse, keep the air temperature at 15°C for 4 to 5 hours in the first half of the night, and around 10°C in the second half. If it is too low, promptly spray the plants and the ground evenly with new high-lipid film; the protective film that forms quickly has the heat-absorbing and warming, moisture- and seedling-preserving effects of plastic mulch, maintaining soil and greenhouse humidity, increasing effective accumulated temperature, inhibiting water evaporation, improving water use efficiency, improving fertilizer efficiency, improving soil air exchange capacity and purifying the soil environment. While improving the crop growth environment, it also increases soil organic matter and inhibits the reproduction of soil-borne pests and diseases.

When cultivating, take care to damage the roots as little as possible and promptly adopt measures to protect the plants and roots. To prevent moisture and nutrient deficiencies from affecting root growth, spray Caiguo Zhuangdiling once each before flowering, at the young fruit stage and at the fruit enlargement stage of cucumbers, so as to increase the nutrient and water supply by thickening the nutrient transport vessels of cucumbers, meet the physiological needs of fruit development, strengthen seedlings and fruit stalks, balance nutrient matching, strengthen photosynthesis, and avoid nutrient-deficiency-type flower topping.
