It is lettuce planting season once again. In previous years, gray mold has caused damage every time. How should lettuce gray mold be prevented and controlled this year? We also ask fellow growers to share their methods.

The harm gray mold causes to lettuce:
Gray mold mainly damages lettuce leaves and the base of the stem. Seedlings are mostly affected on the stem and leaves near the ground, and after transplanting, the disease starts from the old leaves. The affected parts show water-soaked lesions, and the leaves turn yellow and die. The diseased stem rots and is densely covered with mouse-gray mold. In severe cases, the entire base near the ground is infected, causing the plant to wilt.

Methods for preventing and controlling lettuce gray mold:

1. Lettuce seed prevention and control method:
Select healthy plants for seed production. Before sowing, use salt water (0.5 kg salt added to 5 kg water) to select seeds, and remove sclerotia mixed in with the seeds.

         2. Environmental improvement method:Remove old leaves, improve ventilation conditions, strengthen air exchange, and reduce the disease.

         3. Cultivation method prevention and control method:Use plastic film mulching cultivation, fertilize rationally, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, keep the field clean, and pull out the central diseased plants.

        4. Chemical control method:The following chemicals can be sprayed: 50% duomeiling wettable powder 1000 to 1500 times liquid; or 50% jiameiling wettable powder 1000 to 1500 times liquid; or 50% lide (iprodione · thiram) wettable powder 800 to 1000 times liquid.
