What is lettuce sclerotinia rot? What harm does sclerotinia rot do to lettuce? What methods can prevent and control lettuce sclerotinia rot? Please help introduce itThe harm sclerotinia rot does to lettuce:
Sclerotinia rot mainly affects the base of the lettuce stem. At first, brown water-soaked lesions form and gradually spread to the stem and roots. The diseased tissue rots, and under moist conditions the surface grows luxuriant white cottony mycelium, gradually forming many small white granules with water droplets exuding on them. The small granules then gradually turn into black, mouse-dropping-shaped sclerotia, and sometimes many sclerotia join together into clumps. The upper part of the diseased plant quickly wilts and dies.
When young lettuce is infected, the mycelium from the lower part of the plant spreads upward, and the speed is fast, so the diseased plant quickly soft-rots and lodges. When the temperature is around 20°C and the relative humidity is above 80%, it is favorable for the occurrence and spread of the disease.
Control methods for lettuce sclerotinia rot:
1. Strengthen cultivation management and practice crop rotation; apply nitrogen fertilizer reasonably, increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and enhance the disease resistance of the plants.
2. At the early stage of the disease, spray the following fungicides: 40% dimethachlon wettable powder at 1000-1500 times dilution, 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder at 800 times dilution, 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 500 times dilution, 40% validamycin wettable powder at 800 times dilution, 50% dichloran wettable powder at 300 times dilution, etc. Spray once every 7-10 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays, and stop applying about 10 days before harvest.
