The main pests of Angelica dahurica are the green peach aphid, the carrot willow aphid, Sapporo two-tailed aphid, the red-striped stink bug, the yellow swallowtail butterfly, the yellow-winged fennel moth, the sweet potato cryptic moth, the small green flower chafer, the Japanese beetle, and red spider mites. For the green peach aphid, carrot willow aphid, Sapporo two-tailed aphid, and red-striped stink bug, control can be done by spraying a 0.3% matrine botanical insecticide at 500--1000 times dilution or derris extract at 600 times dilution.
For the larvae of the yellow swallowtail butterfly, yellow-winged fennel moth, and sweet potato cryptic moth, spray Bt emulsion at 200-300 times dilution. For 2nd-3rd instar larvae, spray Qingchongjun (containing 10 billion bacteria per gram) at 300 times dilution for control. For young larvae, matrine botanical insecticide at 500-1000 times dilution can also be sprayed.
The adults of the small green flower chafer and Japanese beetle feed on flowers; adults can be caught by hand, or derris extract at 600 times dilution can be sprayed.
Red spider mite control: spray 0.3% matrine botanical insecticide at 500-1000 times dilution or 50% sulfur suspension concentrate at 300 times dilution.
