Methods to improve the germination rate of pepper seeds, compiled by Zhongdi Network below for readers' reference.

Method 1: Soak the seeds first, then scald them:
Generally, farmers first scald pepper seeds in hot water for disinfection, then soak them, but according to many of my own experiments, it is better to soak the seeds well first and then scald them for disinfection, because directly scalding dry seeds for sterilization treatment causes a small portion of shriveled seeds and old seeds, due to their low vitality, to easily die under intense high temperature and lose their germination ability, while soaking the seeds first allows this portion of seeds to swell first and increase their resistance, thereby improving the germination rate.

Method 2: The amount of water used for soaking seeds:
Generally, just enough to submerge the seeds is fine. Do not add too much water, so as to avoid diluting the internal nutrients of the seeds and affecting the germination rate.

Method 3: Controlling the water temperature for soaking seeds:
To improve the germination rate, the water temperature should be maintained at around 30°C. This allows the seeds to quickly enter the suitable temperature stage with growth vitality and enhances the seeds' sprouting ability. To maintain the water temperature, the seeds can be soaked with insulation in an incubator or under a cotton quilt.

  Method 4: Soaking time:
According to my many experiments, I found that a longer soaking time prolongs the sprouting time, and the sprouts produced after this prolongation do not grow vigorously, the seedling emergence rate is low, and disease resistance during the seedling stage is also poor. If the water temperature can be maintained at 30°C, the best soaking time is 2 to 4 hours (h).

  Method 5: Seed disinfection method:
In order to make pepper seeds sprout more, as long as the seedbed soil is properly disinfected and treated, after the seeds are treated with hot water and high temperature for sterilization, chemical sterilization treatment may be omitted. However, immediately after the seedlings emerge uniformly, spray 600 times diluted chlorothalonil or 400 times diluted copper-ammonium mixture to prevent and control seedling-stage diseases. To stimulate pepper seed germination, seeds can be soaked in 200 times diluted cytokinin solution.

Method 6: Scalding seeds with hot water:
Scalding seeds with hot water uses the high thermal power of water to kill pathogens on the seed surface and lurking inside the seeds. It is also a necessary means of breaking seed dormancy and increasing seed vitality. When scalding seeds, the water temperature should be strictly controlled between 55-58°C, and the duration should last 20 minutes. Only in this way can the goal of killing pathogens without harming the seeds be achieved. To maintain the water temperature, add hot water when the water temperature is low to keep the water temperature. To make the seeds heated evenly, stir the seeds continuously. If the amount of seeds is small, scalding can be done in a thermos bottle. Rinse the scalded seeds with clean water, let the moisture dry, and then they can be sprouted.

  Method 7: Sprouting method:
Wrap the soaked seeds in cloth and place them in a place around 30°C for sprouting; electric light heat can be used. If the amount of seeds is small, wrap them well in cloth, put them in a clean plastic bag, and place it inside a close-fitting shirt, using the human body's constant temperature for sprouting. During sprouting, turn the seeds frequently, soak and wash them with warm water once a day, and after washing, shake off the water and sprout again. According to the above methods, the sprouts can generally be fully out after 2 days, with very good results.
