For the management of pepper seeds after the seedlings emerge, Zhongdiwang has compiled 5 preventive measures below for your reference.

I. Prevent high temperatures: choose a well-ventilated plot for the seedling bed, cover it with a shade net, and immediately remove the seedling bed covering when 60%-70% of the seedlings emerge after sowing, thereby lowering the seedling bed temperature and creating a small environment suitable for seedling growth.

II. Prevent damage from strong winds and heavy rain: choose a plot with higher terrain and good drainage. For shading and cooling, it is best to use the "one net and one film" method, covering the film with a shade net to cool down, which can also prevent damage from heavy rain. Before the heavy rain comes, pull down the plastic film, close the ventilation openings, and secure the film-pressing lines to prevent strong winds. Be careful to prevent water from entering the (pepper seed) seedling bed. After water enters, it will cause the seedling bed soil to harden, which is not conducive to seed germination and emergence, causing a large number of dead seedlings.

III. Prevent drought: before sowing, determine the sowing rate according to quality. Water the seedling bed thoroughly with bottom water before sowing. After sowing, shade and keep moist. According to weather conditions, use a watering can to spray water in the morning or evening to prevent excessive drought.

IV. Prevent excessive seedling growth: excessive seedling growth is caused by insufficient light, weak photosynthesis, and less nutrients produced, plus higher temperatures, especially excessively high night temperatures, strong respiration, and more nutrient consumption, which reduces the dry matter in the plant body. In addition, sufficient nitrogen fertilizer and water promote excessive growth; sowing too densely in the seedling bed causes mutual shading, poor ventilation, less light at the bottom of the seedlings, and more light on the upper part, which can also cause excessive growth.
Measures: control nitrogen fertilizer and watering amount, and carry out chemical control at the appropriate time, spraying with Fengshou No. 1 at 800 times dilution.

V. Prevent damage from diseases and pests: affected by high temperatures, viral diseases, aphids, and whiteflies occur more frequently. Lowering the seedling bed temperature can effectively prevent viral diseases. For aphids and whiteflies, insect-proof nets and chemical control methods can be used. Note that the concentration used must not be too high, so as not to damage the seedlings.
