The diseases that need to be controlled when growing Scutellaria baicalensis are the following two:
  1. Leaf blight
① Occurrence period and symptoms. It is prone to occur during hot and rainy seasons. It begins with irregular dark brown lesions at the leaf tip or leaf margin, gradually extending inward, causing the leaves to dry up, and in severe cases spreading into patches.
② Control methods. After autumn, clean up the field, remove all diseased dead branches and fallen leaves, and eliminate the overwintering source of inoculum. In the early stage of the disease, spray Bordeaux mixture at 1:1:120, or use 50% carbendazim 1000-fold solution for spray control, applying the spray once every 7-10 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.

    2. Root rot
① Occurrence period and symptoms. Plants cultivated for more than two years are prone to the disease. Dark brown lesions often appear on the roots, leading to rot, and the whole plant dies. It mostly occurs in low-lying, waterlogged plots.
② Control methods. Pay attention to drainage during the rainy season, weed and cultivate in time, and strengthen ventilation and light penetration among the seedlings; practice crop rotation; in the early stage of the disease, irrigate the diseased holes with 1% ferrous sulfate solution for disinfection.
