To grow autumn sweet potatoes, you can refer to the following methods:

Autumn sweet potatoes are most suitable for use as seed potatoes, so choosing excellent varieties is particularly important. Currently, the relatively suitable excellent varieties for cultivation include: Nanshu 88, 868, Xiangshu No. 15, Xiangshu No. 16, Jinye, etc.

Reasonably dense planting, ensuring full stands, vine cuttings, with each segment having 4~5 nodes. The planting density is preferably 5000~6000 plants per mu, and after planting, water thoroughly to ensure survival.
At planting, apply 1500~2000 kg of decomposed pig and cattle manure and 15~20 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu as base fertilizer. Autumn sweet potatoes are generally cultivated twice. The first cultivation is carried out after the sweet potato seedlings survive, with a cultivation depth of about 7 cm. Combine cultivation with the application of decomposed human manure and urine or quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer to promote seedling growth and early tuber formation. The second cultivation is carried out about 20 days after planting, and apply 1 round of compound fertilizer according to the growth of the sweet potato seedlings. After the second cultivation, earth up the soil and repair the ridge edges to prevent the tubers from being exposed. If autumn sweet potatoes encounter long-term drought, irrigate 1~2 times. In places with insufficient water sources, cultivate more, or spread more straw and increase the application of organic fertilizer.

Irrigation should preferably be carried out in the morning or evening, and the irrigation depth should preferably reach 2/3 of the ridge height. The irrigation time should not exceed 4 hours. For each irrigation, loosen the soil once to prevent water evaporation. The stems and leaves of autumn sweet potatoes are relatively tender and are easily damaged by sweet potato tobacco cutworms, sweet potato hawk moths, and flea beetles, which can be controlled by spraying.
